Hi! I've been teaching at Willis Music since 2003, where its been my pleasure to teach guitar, electric bass, mandolin, and Scruggs-style 5-string banjo.

I picked up the guitar in 1982, and have been playing professionally for 30+ years, which is also how long I've been teaching.

Before graduating from the College-Conservatory of Music at U.C. with a degree in Jazz Performance, I attended the highly regarded Berklee College of Music on partial scholarship in Boston, MA.

As a professional musician, I've performed with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Artie Shaw Orchestra, Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Dionne Warwick, The Four Freshman, Cab Calloway, The Temptations, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, The Drifters, and Ringling Bros./Barnum & Bailey Circus. And I've been in bands that have opened for Chuck Berry, the Romantics, the Marshall Tucker Band, Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Sam Bush, Del McCoury, and others.

My Americana/bluegrass group, Hickory Robot, plays regularly around Cincinnati. We've released two CDs, Firefly and Sawyer, and have been nominated for several Cincinnati Entertainment Awards. You can check us out at:

In addition, I released my first solo CD in 2015. For more information, visit me at:

I teach many styles of music, including Rock, Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues, and Country. I accept beginning students, advanced students, and everyone in between.

My philosophy is simple - every student is an individual, who needs instruction that takes into account their goals and objectives, strengths and weaknesses. I do not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" teaching method. Within this open framework, however, I emphasize the value of proper technique, musical education, efficient daily practice, and keeping it fun.

Thanks, and hope to hear from you soon!
